As Chair of the Governing Body at Beatrice Tate School, I am happy to welcome you to our caring and inclusive school community.
I am proud to take on this role having previously served as a parent governor at Beatrice Tate School until my son left the school in July 2022. During that time, I saw first hand the dedication, expertise and compassion of staff, and the positive difference the school makes to the lives of its students and families. It is a privilege to continue supporting the school in this new capacity.
The Governing Body works closely with the Headteacher, Wayne Hazzard, who leads the day to day management and operation of the school. Together, we set the strategic direction, provide appropriate challenge and support, and ensure that decisions are always guided by the needs, wellbeing and aspirations of our students.
Governors meet twice each term to review the school’s progress and to assure ourselves that strategic priorities are being met. We also visit the school regularly through our link governor roles. These visits allow us to understand the school’s work in practice, celebrate student achievements and maintain a strong connection with daily school life.
At Beatrice Tate School, we value and respect every young person. The Governing Body is committed to supporting a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment where students are able to learn, thrive and participate fully in school life.
Safeguarding is central to everything we do. All adults working in or visiting the school are expected to uphold the highest standards of care and to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our students at all times.
We welcome interest from members of the community who may wish to join the Governing Body in the future. Parent governor elections are held when vacancies arise. If you would like to find out more about the work of the Governing Body, please contact the school via the Headteacher.
Yours sincerely
Gill Ritchie
