Remote Learning

Remote Learning Statement

In-person education is always the school’s priority. This statement explains how the school approaches remote learning when students are unable to attend school in person for a short period.

Principles

Remote learning at Beatrice Tate School is designed to be proportionate, inclusive and appropriate to the needs of our learners. Any remote provision is intended to support continuity of learning and maintain connection with school, rather than replicate the full in-school curriculum.

When remote learning may be used

Remote learning may be considered in limited circumstances, such as short-term medical absence, periods of unavoidable disruption or where attendance is temporarily not possible. Decisions are made on an individual basis, taking account of each student’s needs, family circumstances and ability to engage.

What remote learning looks like at Beatrice Tate School

Remote education may include a combination of personalised learning activities, sensory-based tasks, communication-focused activities and guidance for families. Provision is adapted to reflect students’ developmental levels and is designed to be manageable for families.

Support for families

The school recognises the central role families play in supporting learning at home. Expectations are flexible and staff work closely with families to agree what is appropriate and realistic. Families are not expected to replace specialist teaching or therapeutic input.

Safeguarding, wellbeing and online safety

Safeguarding and wellbeing remain a priority during any period of remote learning. Communication with families follows established safeguarding procedures and staff adhere to the school’s online safety expectations.

Review
