Our Community
A shared commitment to dignity, equality and independence
Beatrice Tate School is a vibrant community built on respect, inclusion and high expectations.
We serve learners aged 11–19 with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties from across Tower Hamlets and neighbouring boroughs. Our community reflects the rich diversity of East London and values every learner as an individual with unique strengths, needs and aspirations.
Families as partners
Families are central to our success. We work closely with parents and guardians to plan, review and celebrate each learner’s progress. Open communication, regular contact and family events ensure that every voice is heard. Our Outreach and Community Engagement Team provides tailored support to families to ensure every learner can stay connected and engaged with school life.
A professional and caring team
Our skilled staff, therapists and health professionals work together to provide education, care and therapy tailored to each learner. We invest in continuous professional development and partnerships with organisations such as the EQUALS network, the Point 5 PMLD Network, the East London Teaching School Hub and the London East Teacher Training Alliance (LETTA) to keep our practice strong and forward-looking.
Connected to the wider community
Beatrice Tate plays an active role in local and regional SEND development through the Tower Hamlets SEND Improvement Board and the LETTA Steering Board. These partnerships help shape inclusive practice and strengthen support for learners with complex needs across the borough.
Celebrating diversity and belonging
Our community represents the diversity of Tower Hamlets. Learners explore culture, identity and respect through assemblies, creative arts and adapted PSHE and RSE programmes. Every learner is valued, included and encouraged to take part in the life of the school.
Learning beyond the classroom
Learners take part in arts, music, sport and enterprise activities that build confidence, independence and joy in learning. Partnerships such as THAMES music and the Panathlon Challenge enrich school life and connect our learners to the wider world.
Growing together
As the school expands to meet increasing demand, our commitment to dignity, equality and independence remains at the heart of everything we do. Beatrice Tate continues to be a welcoming, outward-facing community where everyone learns, contributes and achieves together.
