Welcome to Beatrice Tate School

On behalf of our students, staff and Governing Body, I would like to welcome you to Beatrice Tate School.

Beatrice Tate School is a secondary special school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for students aged 11 to 19 with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many of our learners also have additional sensory, physical and medical needs, and our school is designed to provide the specialist support and personalised learning that enables every student to thrive.

Our school is built on a strong culture of care, respect and high expectations. Staff work closely with families and a wide range of specialist professionals to ensure that each learner is supported to develop communication, independence and life skills alongside their academic learning.

Following our most recent Ofsted inspection, inspectors recognised the strong safeguarding culture within the school, the inclusive and supportive environment we provide for students, and the commitment of staff to ensuring that learners feel safe, valued and ready to learn. The inspection also identified areas where we are continuing to strengthen our curriculum and teaching so that learning is consistently ambitious and well sequenced for all learners.

At Beatrice Tate School we are proud of our community and the dedication of our staff team. Our curriculum is designed to provide engaging, meaningful and appropriately challenging learning experiences that prepare students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

We work in close partnership with therapists, health professionals and the local authority to provide an integrated approach to education, care and wellbeing. This multidisciplinary collaboration is central to ensuring that our students receive the support they need to make meaningful progress.

I hope this website provides you with a helpful introduction to our school and the work we do. If you would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us.
